Internal Mixing Machines using the principle of cylindrical containers in which the materials are deformed by rotating blades or rotors. The containers and rotors may be cored for heating or cooling to control the batch temperature. The mixing chamber is jacketed or otherwise arranged for water-cooling, and is provided with a feeding hopper which can be closed by means of a pneumatically operated vertical ram. These mixers are used in the compounding of plastics, and have inherent advantage of keeping dust and fume hazards to a minimum.
